The Alveo X3 and XtremeScale™ (X2) series low-latency network adapters are designed for high-performance electronic trading and enterprise data centers. Complete with acceleration software and packet telemetry, AMD network adapters scale with each server, virtual machine, and container to expand the number of users in a cloud network.
Vitis™ Networking is a domain-specific development environment for networking and infrastructure acceleration applications on AMD adaptive SmartNICs. It features API and Library support such as SPDK, DPDK, OpenStack, as well as a P4 native programming environment for network, storage and security application developers. Additionally, the integrated software stack from AMD provides an open-source, Linux based software framework that comprehends Vitis Networking as well as other components and tools.
AMD and its ecosystem partners offer a breadth of networking solutions for customers to choose from. Using these solutions, customers can easily accelerate and deploy their applications without requiring any FPGA design experience.
This white paper showcases emerging use cases of SmartNICs, such as container networking, OVS acceleration, AI/ML, and security. While existing solutions call for performance with flexibility, these emerging cases increase the value of ‘on-demand’ accelerators as a critical element of future SmartNIC solutions. FPGA-based platforms such as AMD Alveo™ adaptive SmartNICs and Versal™ adaptive SoCs offer flexibility of dynamic loading of functions for these workloads, enabling third parties and industry collaborators to develop the next generation of dynamically loadable accelerators.
